Course roles & responsibilities

The course covers 42km of road throughout Sydney with volunteers posted at various locations, including; Course North – Milson’s Point, Alfred Street south up to the Harbour Bridge, Sydney CBD, Course West – Pyrmont & Darling Harbour and Course South – Anzac Pde, Moore Park and Centennial Park.

Team leader: drink stations

This role requires you to coordinate and instruct your crew to successfully set up, operate & clean up your assigned drink station.  You will act as the first point of contact for your crew members and lead your crew to provide drinks/refreshments to event participants on race day. You must be available to attend a mandatory evening training / briefing session prior to event day to gain further information about your role and responsibilities as team leader. You will be providing operational leadership to your team prior to and on event day.

2IC / Workforce support: drink stations

This role requires you to liaise with, assist and follow instructions from your team leaders and event organisers. The 2IC / Workforce support is to perform crew and course marshal check-in/out and support the team leader in the deployment of your crew members and the coordination of your area on event day. As 2IC / Workforce support you will also need to attend a mandatory evening training / briefing session prior to the event day to gain further information about your roles and responsibilities.

Crew roles: course

Crew members are required to perform assigned course roles & follow instructions of team leaders and 2IC’s. The role of the crew on the course will vary depending on exact assigned location & task. Crew will work with their team leaders to set up, operate and clean up their allocated area. To complete your roles as a crew member there is a recommended training evening prior to the event where we will brief you on your role. The following roles will be performed by Crew Members:

Crew: course marshal

Course marshals play a crucial role to provide directional assistance and encouragement to participants. Course marshals must maintain course set-up throughout the duration of the event. Course marshals are required to check-in with the 2IC at the closest water or refreshment drink station which you will be advised of prior to event day.

Crew: course drink stations

Crew members are required to set up, operate and clean up a water or refreshment drink stations at an assigned point of the course where you will provide water and/or refreshment drinks to all runners as they pass. Crew will be directed by team Leaders and 2ICs.
